2024 Wrap up

Another great writing year ends!

I had my most productive writing year ever and made really good progress on a few longer form projects which are taking a lot of effort and growth.

Factor Four published For All The Pastime Variables which is a fierce piece of flash I'm really proud of.

Reactor did a cool deep dive ethical discussion on one of my favourite published pieces of fiction: Concerning the Upstairs Bathroom.

I also attended a few in person writing events (Continuum 16! Emerging Writers Fest!) and got newly inspired by interacting with other spec fic writers and fans. Looking forward to doing more of that in 2025!

I'm really grateful for everyone who has read, reviewed, recommended or otherwise engaged with my fiction this year. In the spirit of sharing the love my top reads of the year were:

Short fiction

  1.  We Will Teach You How to Read by Caroline M Yoachim

  2. Why Don't We Just Kill The Kid in the Omelas Hole by Isabel J Kim

  3. The Clown Watches the Clown by Sarah S Messenger

  4. The Offer of Peace Between Two Worlds by Renan Bernardo

  5. Fat Kids by Alex Jennings

  6. The Worms that Ate the Universe by Megan Chee

  7. The Sort Thomas Ha

  8. The Last Flesh Figure Skaters by Claire Jia-Wen

  9. The Ghost Tenders of Chernobyl by Nika Murphy

  10. A Sojourn in the Fifth City by PH Lee

  11. doorbell dot mov by Jennifer R Donohue

  12. Frogskin by ML Krishnan

Books (unranked)

Next year I'm going to continue focusing on longer work, attending more events, being more consistent with sharing the great things I'm reading and maybe experimenting with a few new to me narrative forms.

I hope we all have a creative, badass 2025.
